Chainsaw Man Each Arc Explained
Intro Arc
Denji befriends a chainsaw devil named Pochita after saving its life and the two of them start hunting and killing demons for money. One day, while on a job, they are attacked by a Zombie Devil, which tricks and kills one of their colleagues.
In order to save Denji, Pochita merges with his body, allowing him to transform into Chainsaw-man and defeat the Zombie Devil and its zombie minions. Makima, a member of the Public Safety Devil Hunters, witnesses Denji’s abilities and recruits him into her team. Upon arriving in Tokyo, Denji is paired with Aki Hayakawa, who initially tries to make Denji leave but eventually ends up living with him. They are later joined by a fiend named Power, who Denji is excited to work with because she is a woman.
Bat Devil Arc
Denji joins forces with Power to patrol the city, where she kills a Sea Cucumber Devil and causes some trouble. Power later reveals that a devil took her cat and that Makima recruited her before she could rescue it. In exchange for Denji helping to get her cat back, Power agrees to let him touch her breasts. Power leads Denji to the devil that took her cat, but first knocks him out and presents him to the devil so that the cat can be returned. However, instead of returning the cat, the devil eats it whole, along with Power.
As the Bat Devil tries to escape and attack civilians, Denji grabs onto its leg and transforms into Chainsaw Man to fight it. He quickly cuts off the Bat Devil’s arm and continues to beat it. The Bat Devil tries to fight back and blows Denji away with an attack, but Denji gets back up and resumes the fight.
He keeps cutting the Bat Devil until it is killed and Power and Meowy are saved. At that moment, a Leech Devil, the Bat Devil’s girlfriend, appears and attacks Denji. Due to blood loss, Denji is unable to fully transform into Chainsaw Man, but he still tries to fight the Leech Devil. Aki Hayakawa arrives just in time, using his Fox Devil to eat the Leech Devil and save Denji.
Eternity Devil Arc
When Aki Hayakawa arrives at the Morin Hotel, he realizes that the Gun Devil is not inside because the Gun Devil’s flesh didn’t react strongly. Denji is initially excited, but then remembers Makima’s promise and loses interest until Himeno offers to tongue-kiss him. Denji is eager to find the devil inside the hotel, but Hirokazu Arai tries to stop him so that Himeno doesn’t have to kiss him.
A head emerges from a room and tries to attack Kobeni Higashiyama, but is quickly defeated by Himeno and Power. As the group investigates the hotel, they realize that no matter how many floors they go up or down, they always end up on the eighth floor. When they realize they are trapped on the eighth floor, they go into one of the rooms to try to figure out how to escape. After a while, they realize that the devil they killed has grown larger and is still growing.
The Eternity Devil speaks up and offers to let them out of the hotel if they feed him Denji. Kobeni tries to attack Denji but is stopped by Himeno and Aki. Aki tries to use his Fox Devil but is unable to because they are completely cut off from the outside world. Himeno uses her Ghost Devil to attack the Eternity Devil, but this only makes him grow larger.
As Kobeni starts to panic again, the Eternity Devil grows larger and reveals that he grows in response to fear. Himeno’s Ghost Devil then prevents Aki from using his sword. Arai and Kobeni attack Denji, but Aki protects him with his body and Kobeni ends up stabbing him instead. When Himeno sees Aki bleeding, she becomes worried that she will lose another partner. Denji becomes frustrated with everyone and decides to let himself be eaten by the Eternity Devil, jumping towards the devil.
Katana Man Arc
While the Special Division members are working on various cases, they are attacked by Gun Devil’s henchmen, who kill almost all of them with guns. Denji, Power, Himeno, and Aki Hayakawa are eating in a restaurant at the same time, where the Katana Man explains his connection to Denji before shooting him in the head and then shooting at the others. Aki uses the Fox Devil to try to fight the Katana Man, but he transforms and emerges from it.
Aki then confronts him and stabs him multiple times, activating his Curse Devil and seemingly killing the Katana Man. However, a woman named Sawatari appears and helps the Katana Man get back up, and he then kills Aki. Himeno, after being fatally shot, decides to give her entire being to her Ghost Devil in order to fight the Katana Man.
Sawatari uses her Snake Devil to eat the Ghost Devil as it is defeating the Katana Man. In the final moments of Himeno’s life, she pulls Denji’s cord, transforming him into the Chainsaw Man. More henchmen appear and start shooting at Denji as they fight. Denji decides to use one of them as a shield, but because the Katana Man isn’t carrying a gun, he cuts both Denji and the henchman in half, effectively ending the fight.
Bomb Girl Arc
Denji is attracted by a woman who appears to be interested in his personality. However, she turns out to be a part of The Gun Devil.
International Assassins Arc
Denji has another strange dream where he sees himself standing in front of a door. A few days after the confrontation between Denji and Reze, Makima proposes a trip to Enoshima to all the boys while Power is recovering from his excess blood and Denji is thinking about the girl bomb. However, their plans are quickly disrupted when several members of the agency enter the apartment where Denji, Aki, and Power live.
Makima tells the trio that his actions during the confrontation with Reze have been made known to everyone, revealing Denji’s existence and putting his life in grave danger. This suggests that Reze’s chaos was intended to reveal the existence of a being that was neither a Human possessed by a Devil nor a Devil as such, due to his failure to obtain Chainsaw Man’s heart.
Gun Devil Arc
The operation to defeat the Gun Devil is about to start, and Makima reveals a shocking fact to Denji and the others about the Devil himself. This arc, which is the penultimate one in Part 1, sees the defeat of one of the manga’s major enemies, the Gun Devil, as well as the revelation about him.
Control Devil Arc
When Denji, who is grieving, seeks comfort from Makima, ulterior motives are revealed. This arc finally shows Makima’s true motivations and her true intentions towards Denji. After Makima kills Power, Denji becomes enraged and kills Makima, then consumes her so that the Control Devil cannot return as Makima.
Justice Devil Arc
Asa Mitaka, a high school student, is instructed by Yoru, the War Devil, to locate and kill the Chainsaw Man in order to give the War Devil access to nuclear weapons. This is the first arc of the manga’s second part, and it is still ongoing, so we don’t have many details yet, but we will update the article as more information becomes available.
Current arc
On an aquarium date, Asa and Denji are captured from The Eternity Devil together with fellow members of the Devil Hunter Club.
Which Arcs are the best?
1.Gun Devil Arc
Fujimoto’s talent for writing dark and sad themes and storylines is evident in The Gun Devil and Control Devil series. The whole series is characterized by an unrelenting intensity similar to Game of Thrones, and the climax of Aki’s character arc ends in a deeply depressing way. After being consumed by revenge over the way that his friend the Gun Devil ruined his life, he is cruelly transformed into the thing he wanted to eradicate.
There is a lot that happens during this story arc, but the most memorable part is watching Aki, who is now the Gun Fiend, hallucinate his bloody rampage through the city, have a fierce battle with Denji, and compel Denji to kill him. This moment will stay with readers long after the end of Chainsaw Man. It is definitely grim, but the mark of a good story is that it keeps readers captivated by its characters. Chainsaw Man achieved this in just 97 chapters.
2.Control Devil Arc
The Control Devil Arc significantly expands the scope of the story and the worldbuilding process in a thrilling way, but the series is not without its tragic dramatic crescendos. Power’s personal growth and her willingness to risk her life to save Denji, ultimately leading to her death, are definitely among the two most significant deaths in the entire series. However, Denji’s promise to her to find the Blood Devil again in order to revive her provides a bit of “sweetness” to balance out the “bitterness.”
